Earthquake Emergency Update
by John de Senna - Sunday, 12 September 2010, 03:56 PM

The structural integrity of our Christchurch campus buildings has been signed off as safe for occupation and the campus will be open tomorrow (Monday 13 September) for you to resume normal study activities.

If you are still cleaning up after the emergency, or do not feel emotionally well enough to resume studies on campus, we will understand if you decide to remain in the security of your home for a day or two longer.  Note:

  • If you will not be attending classes from tomorrow, please call reception (377-8878) and advise us accordingly.
  • If your study material is posted on VisionOnline, and you feel up to studying at home, please continue studying the next Topic(s) in your course(s).
  • Don't hesitate to use the VisionOnline Message facility (click "Participants" on the right hand menu of your Course Home page) to contact your tutor(s) with questions or updates if necessary.  Alternatively, call your tutor(s) on 377-8878.

Be assured:

  • The campus buildings have been declared perfectly safe
  • Staff will be available on campus for counselling or to discuss your situation or progress
  • Tutors will be ready to create a personalized Study Plan for you, if required.

Above all, take care of your emotional and physical wellbeing, and don't hesitate to seek help from the College if necessary.  Please just ask us - we are here to help you.

CONTINUING STUDIES - CHRISTCHURCH CAMPUS STUDENTS
Please don't become anxious about your study program; your personal well-being is paramount in these circumstances. Once things normalize, we will negotiate a Personal Study Plan with you to ensure you complete your study program on time. In the meantime, if your course is on VisionOnline, and you are in the frame of mind to study, you can continue to work through the notes and exercises online. Tutors will be checking VisionOnline for messages from their homes each day and will respond as soon as possible. Above all, take care and monitor your physical, emotional, and psychological well-being carefully. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask someone or call 0800-WELFARE. Our prayers are with you.
